Meet Our Staff
The professional staff at Omaha WellBound Fitness is unique because they must have a minimum of a bachelors degree in the field, at least one nationally accredited certification, and accredited training in exercise for conditions such as post cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, weight loss, arthritis, fibromyalgia, Parkinson's, orthopedic concerns, balance and coordination, brain fitness, physical disabilities, pulmonary issues, strength-training, flexibility, endurance, posture and more.
Staff Continuing Education
Our staff obtains at least 6 hours of monthly continuing education in the field.
We recently returned from the International Council on Active Aging conference in Florida where we had accredited training in Brain Fitness, Exercise and Parkinson's Disease, Fall Prevention, Exercise Treatments for Chronic Musculoskeletal Issues, Senior Circuit Training, Exercise Safety, Exercise Treatments for Chronic Diseases, Zumba Gold, Senior Strength Training, Weight Management, Preventative Wellness, Wellness Programming for Dementia, Arthritis and the Hip, Foot Care, Successful Aging Strategies, Parkinson's Specific Agility Training, Active Aging, Exercise for Osteoporosis, Motivating Older Adults Toward Physical Activity, Dance for EveryBody, and much more!
Adrienne Metzger, BA, ACSM-CPT among other things, Adrienne is our Boomer Boot Camp coordinator, and a former Wellness Coordinator at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City where she taught programs and classes for residents in water exercise, personal training, balance, post-rahab, balance, and hosted special and educational events. She also did teaching and training special populations, and sessions for mental and physical participation for residents with a wide range of dementia and physical limitations. Adrienne has nationally accredited training in Brain Fitness, Musculoskeletal Changes and Exercise, Chronic Disease Exercise treatment, Parkinson's and exercise, fall prevention, Zumba Gold, foot issues, Boomer Boot Camp, dance fitness for seniors, Cycle class instruction, Exercise for Parkinson's disease, balance training, and more. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Health Sciences and Aging Studies, and a certified personal trainer through the AmericanCollege of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Her work experience also includes health coaching and instruction with the U of Iowa's wellness program where she worked with faculty and University affiliates in weight management, nutrition, health coaching, lifestyle change, and fitness. She also worked with the University's Recreational Services Division as a personal trainer, fitness class instructor, program staff for senior citizen activities, fitness assessments, and management for the fitness facility and staff. Although a former University of Iowa Hawkeye student athlete, Adrienne enjoys working with the physiology, well-being, health issues and progress of older adults and the many promising new research methods that involve successful aging!
Seth Shirley BS, ACSM-CPT specializes in personal training for seniors, and is our Synergy & Small Group Personal Training Coordinator, Member Reassessment and Progress Coordinator, and an instructor for many of our classes. He graduated from CreightonUniversity with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Exercise Science and completed his internship working with older adults and exercise. He is a Certified Personal Trainer with the AmericanCollege of Sports Medicine. Seth earned continuing education in Group Fitness Instruction for Seniors, Parkinson's Based Agility Training, Post-Cardiac Rahabilitation, Brain Fitness, was a Teaching Assistant and tutor for Creighton's anatomy course labs, and has done research for the Creighton Exercise Science Department on the effect of two different creatine formulas on strength and power which was chosen as a featured presentation at the NSCA annual meeting. Seth's education strongly focused on human and exercise physiology, anatomy, laboratory procedure, exercise prescription, and research statistics. At Creighton, he was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Exercise Science Excellence in Leadership Club. Just for fun, you will catch Seth performing for Opera Omaha, the Orpheum, or other area locations involved in the performing arts!
Michelle Streif, MA, CPT*D has been in the fitness industry 26 years and specializes in older adult fitness. With an undergrad from Iowa State University of Science and Technology and a masters degree in health education/gerontology from UNO, she has also completed over 600 accredited hours in areas related to older adult health and fitness including post cardiac rehab, diabetes, osteoporosis, balance and coordination, orthopedic post rehabilitation, hypertension, arthritis, fall prevention, Drums Alive and Zumba Gold. She is a member of the (ACE) American Council on Exercise Faculty, former NSCA Personal Trainer SIG Executive Committee member, NSCA Certification Commission Nominations Committee, a member of the Medical Fitness Association, the International Council on Active Aging, and is a Continuing Education provider for various nationally accredited organizations. Her certifications include NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, ACE Personal Trainer, Spinning, Precision Cycle, Kickboxing, PACE-Arthritis and Exercise, and she has received ACE/IDEA Specialty Recognition in Older Adults and Exercise and Exercise and Medical Concerns. Michelle has been a presenter for several nationally accredited conferences and workshops where she trains personal trainers, cycling instructors, and aerobics instructors and she has been published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, the Journal of Active Aging, IDEA Today, and has been interviewed for articles in SHAPE, IDEA Today, Healthy Aging, MS-NBC, Personal Fitness Professional, Fitness and GLAMOUR magazines, and written 2 senior continuing education courses for Human Kinetics about safe and appropriate equimpent, fitness center design, and programming for seniors.
Rochelle Reinke BS, ACSM-CPT, AFAA-GFis the former Fitness and Wellness Coordinator for Skyline Retirement Community where she oversaw and taught all the group exercise classes, supervised the fitness center, and assisted with the overall wellness of the residents with emphases on balance, posture, coordination, hand-eye coordination, and health promotion.Her other experience includes working in a dementia unit, physical therapy assistance, and working with those affected by Alzheimers disease. Ashley has earned certifications in Personal Training from the AmericanCollege of Sports Medicine, and in Group Fitness Instruction from the American Fitness and Aerobics Association.She has three years of personal training experience, group fitness instructor experience which includes teaching Boot Camp, Cardio Express, Abs & Back Classes, Weight Training, Toning, Senior Fitness, and pre/post rehab work with those who have had knee replacements and other post rehab programs. Ashley is a graduate of Central College in Pella Iowa with a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion - specializing in th areas of fitness assessments/health and wellness.A fun fact about Ashley is that for the first 2 years of college she threw the Javelin for the CentralCollege track team.
Anthony Schulenberg, BS, ACSMhas his Bachelor's of Science degree in Exercise Science from Wayne State College and is certified through the American College of Sports Medicine. While at WSC he gained experience working with older adult wellness, he taught and designed group exercise classes and monitored the progress of the seniors who participated in the class. During his internship at Omaha WellBound he gained experience personal training as well as teaching group exercise classes. Anthony also has nationally accredited training in Indoor Cycling Instruction. At Omaha WellBound he is an instructor for CIA, Strength Training, Boot camp, and Synergy Group Personal Training. He also has training and education in Parkinson's Based Agility Training, Post-Cardiac Rehab, Resistance Training for Older Adults, Brain Fitness and Brain Drills.
